The other day I came home and sat down to check my stuff on the computer and the screen was blue then it just quit, no signal.
I unplugged everything and called Lance to tell him and he said "Oh the old blue screen of death". I laughed and put it in the car to take it to the repair shop. When I walked in and told the guy what happened he said "oh the old blue screen of death"...did my husband call you? Apparently that's a tecnical term "blue screen of death".
Any way, an hour or so later the repair guy called and said it was my hard drive, I asked if I would loose any files he said no. He said there were two ways of handling it he could save everything and put it in a box on the screen or he could put it all back where it goes for an extra $40 bucks. Of course, put everything back where it goes! I didn't listen to the subliminal message that said give me $400 and grab your... No dinner, no flowers, nothing.
The lesson here is:
"You won't loose anything" means, you won't loose your photos but office, quicken, correl draw, and any other soft ware you have put on in the last 5 years is gone, gone, gone...
( Who out there other than Nancy still has the setup cds that came with their computer, my guess, if you have it you don't have small children.)
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I didn't loose the photos but I lost so much that I don't even realize yet, for example; I need to make a spread sheet today, I can't. I need to type up a document, I can't. Spell check, well you all have to suffer through this because I don't have it.
Did I back everything up? Sure I did!, The same time that I filed for South Carolina taxes after dad died 4 years ago...I need to get that done too...four years ago, geeze...Hey Nancy are you busy?
